Real Time Mission Monitor use in 2008 Soil Moisture Active Passive Validation Experiment SMAP VEX 2008 (October 2008)
The SMAP VEX experiment completed the field phase. A series of aircraft-based flights were flown over the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Delaware in the fall of 2008 (29 September - 14 October). The primary sensor for this campaign was the Passive Active L-Band System (PALS); however, several other new instruments took part of the experiment including the Marshall Airborne Polarimetric Imaging Radiometer (MAPIR), the L-Band Imaging Scatterometer (LIS), and the Global Positioning System Reflectometer (GPSR).
Real Time Mission Monitor use in ARCTAS (April-July 2008)
The ARCTAS experiment has completed the field phase. You can review some ARCTAS missions by viewing selected movies. The ARCTAS spring experiment was based in Fairbanks, Alaska and RTMM monitored 12 DC-8, 11 P-3, and 18 B-200 flights (includes integration test flights, transit flights and ARCTAS science). The ARCTAS summer experiment flew out of Cold Lake, Alberta and RTMM tracked14 DC-8, 16 P-3, and 19 B-200 flights (including integration test flights, California Air Resource Board flights, transit flights and ARCTAS science). The combined ARCTAS field campaigns were focused on atmospheric composition, arctic radiation, aerosols from boreal forest fires, and the long range transport of industrial pollution into the arctic atmosphere.
Real Time Mission Monitor use in Hurricane Aerosonde Demonstration (Aug-Oct 2007)
The NOAA-NASA Hurricane Aerosonde Demonstration project completed the field phase. The Aerosonde successfully flew into Hurricane Noel on 2 November 2007. You can review the Aerosonde mission by viewing the movie of the flight.
